Caroline Basketball - 2008 / 2009 : Caroline played basketball as a 6th grader, both for the school team and the community league. This level is 5th and 6th grade. Grandpa Bill bought a new lens for low light and indoor sports photography. It is a 30mm f/1.4, which equates to a 45mm on a DX camera. Bill tried it out for Caroline's 2nd game on 12/20 and it worked well. The first 11 photos were taken with this lens. The remaining photos were taken with Bill's new full frame DSLR - a Nikon D700. It is much better than the D200 in low light, which is perfect for indoor sports and allows Bill to use a longer lens to capture the action.

Elizabeth Softball - 2009 : Elizabeth's first year in the minors (3rd-5th grade), where the kids fast pitch and they count strikes, outs, etc. She was on the same team - the Gators - that Caroline was in 2008. Elizabeth can really hit the ball and did well against the faster pitchers. One of her favorite memories was getting the game ball for going 2 for 3, with 2 RBIs and scoring a run. She also enjoyed catching. The Gators ended up in 2nd place after the regular season, with the most runs scored. They lost in the semis to a team that ended up winning the championship. In spite of the loss, she really had fun and is looking forward to next year.
